What this directory is
It is a searchable list of 8 475 psychologists, counsellors and psychometrists in South Africa. Every listing is built from information already published on a public directory. We bring those profiles together in one place and sort them by province, city, category and the issues practitioners say they work with.
The listings on this version of the site were collected in the week of 19 October 2026. Each page says which month its numbers come from.
Who runs it
Leachie runs it. Leachie is a web studio in Cape Town that builds and looks after websites for small businesses, including therapy practices. Questions about the directory go to [email protected].
Why it exists
To find a practitioner in South Africa today, you check several directories, and each one shows part of the picture. This site puts the published facts side by side: category, area, the issues a practitioner lists, languages, medical aid and, where the practitioner publishes one, the session fee.
It also lets us publish plain numbers that are hard to find elsewhere, such as the median published session fee in a province or how many practitioners offer online sessions. Every number on the site comes from the listings and says how many practitioners it is based on.
The directory is also how Leachie meets practitioners. A practitioner who is a website client of Leachie can have a featured listing. A featured listing always carries the label "Featured: a Leachie client". It is a paid placement and says nothing about the practitioner's skill or suitability. How listings work explains the rules.
What it is not
- It is not a referral service. We do not match you with a practitioner or recommend one.
- It is not a rating site. There are no reviews, ratings or rankings, and the order of a list says nothing about quality.
- It is not a clinical service. Nothing on this site is medical or psychological advice.
- It is not the HPCSA register. To confirm that someone is registered, use the HPCSA iRegister. Our guide How to check an HPCSA number shows how.
- It is not complete. Practitioners who are not on the public directories we read are not here.
